Forma Volta
Structural beauty, inspired by nature.
A new leg collection shaped by marine forms, engineered for everyday strength.
Nature has long mastered the art of building structures that are both strong and beautiful — from the layered shell of the scallop to the delicate silica lattice of the Venus’ flower basket and the geometric crystal formations of celestite.
Inspired by these remarkable natural forms, our new line of sofa and bed legs brings the same thinking into furniture design through a sliced rib structure based on the logic of solids of revolution.
Made from carefully formed steel sheets, the legs are designed to create structural stability while distributing weight evenly, allowing us to use a minimum amount of material while achieving maximum strength. The ribbed construction adds rigidity without visual heaviness, giving the legs a light architectural feel while delivering dependable support.
It is a design approach guided by the idea that efficiency and beauty can exist together — something nature demonstrates again and again beneath the sea and within mineral formations.
As written in On the Aesthetics of Structure,“Whether we marvel at the majesty of the lofty mountains or the magic world of the sea... everywhere does Divine Nature open up to us an inexhaustible fountain of aesthetic enjoyment.”
The collection comes in three distinct finishes:
Concha, a warm beige inspired by the softness and calm presence of scallop formations;
Silice, a clean white finish influenced by the quiet elegance of the Venus’ flower basket;
and Celeste, a deep black tone reflecting the calm depth and crystalline clarity of its mineral namesake.
While the colour changes, the idea remains the same — thoughtful engineering, balanced weight distribution, and lasting strength expressed through a warm, timeless form.
